A very very good salmon tartare had yesterday. It's one of the new dishes on the brunch menu at the Café Bistro Musée McCord.

New Orleans day 4

Such a good breakfast at Surrey's today:
the famous Boudin Biscuit with stunningly delicious grits and fresh-squeezed limeade.

Taverne Square Dominion

Taverne Square Dominion. We had a really really nice supper there the other night under low light. It started with magnificent basil and rye cocktails and ended with a delicious sticky toffee mocha something. In the middle was a braising, a perfectly broiled fish filet, and an endive salad with roasted pecans and gentle Rochefort.

A little poffertjes shop opened yesterday on Victoria Row in downtown Charlottetown. Do you know these little Dutch pancakes? They're a fried floury sugary treat I should never allow myself to consume (10 of). I believe they're traditionally made with buckwheat which would make them less difficult for me but the ones offered here are made with wheat flour. I was the 3rd customer, and kept saying, "My god! Look at that giant brick of butter!"

...Last night at Ta-Ke in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The roe are so beautiful in there.

Boat Street Café Pickles

One of Seattle's top 10 restaurants, and it's no wonder. After last night I'm thoroughly smitten with Boat Street Café. It was too dim to take proper photos when we were there for our dinner so tonight I'll (have to) go back (earlier) for (another) dinner. Will post some images of the décor, exquisite food and the wait staff's gorgeous linen aprons for you tomorrow.

In the meantime, a few shots of their delicious pickles and lovely packaging. I bought 3 jars of the French plums last night (& there are already 2 jars of the onions and a near-gone jar of the pickled figs in the fridge).
