Graduate Self-Portraits

7 April to 14 September 2011

at the Owens Art Gallery in Sackville, New Brunswick.

From the late 1940s until the mid 1960s, each Mount Allison University student in Fine Arts was required to paint a self-portrait in their fourth year, and to submit it as their "Diploma Piece" in order to receive the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Each year, in celebration of Spring Convocation and Alumni Reunion Weekend, the Owens displays self-portraits from those alumni years being honoured. This year they present selections from the Classes of 1951, 1956 and 1961.

Children's Chapel

A miniature chapel within the larger Christ Church Anglican Cathedral (1859) located here in Montréal, on Ste-Catherine between University and Union. Miniature stained glass windows, a little nave, tiny altar, and pews and chairs for small ones. Sparse and a little melancholic. I'm not sure how much it's used and will assume not much as it's always barricaded by a kneeler.
