A Delicious Non-Conformist Lady

still a puppy to us, but suddenly, yes, a lady at 6 months of age.

She jumped fences -all fences- with great gusto

...speaking of Margot Asquith, Countess of Oxford and Asquith, born Alice Margaret Tennant on the 2nd of Feb. 1864 in Peeblesshire Tweeddale, Scotland. She and her sister Laura were inseparable companions, eventually becaming the central female figures of an aristocratic intellectual group called THE SOULS. Laura died when they were quite young, a loss Margot never fully recovered from.
Listen to a recording of a speech she delivered in 1918, in wake of the war. Her husband, Herbert Henry Asquith, was then Prime Minister of England.
