Founded in 1866 by James A. Ogilvy.
In 1928 a concert hall was opened on the 5th floor of Ogilvy, from which the first Montréal Symphony Orchestra broadcast a performance in 1931. And in 1950 a tradition was established wherein bagpipers march and pipe through the store daily.
