Camlin and Paramount

Kitty corner to each other in downtown Seattle.
The Camlin opened October 31st, 1926.
The Paramount opened March 1st, 1928.

The architect for the Camlin was Carl Linde, a one time brewery builder. He designed the edifice to resemble an Italian castle. Composed of 93 apartments, each contained the latest conveniences: “shower baths”, dinettes, kitchenettes. The penthouse occupied the entire 11th floor.

Originally the Seattle Theatre, the Paramount was renamed in the 1940's. A 2,807 seat theatre, it was designed by the firm Rapp & Rapp (Paramount Building on Times Square) in collaboration with Benjamin Marcus Priteca (Pantages Theatre, Hollywood, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Centre, Seattle) as a venue for film and vaudeville.
